We recently supported a Milton family in need and welcomed 36 cats and kittens from a single household into our care.
The cats range in age from just 3 months to 
3 years old. None have previously received veterinary care, meaning each one requires a full intake exam, vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, microchipping, and ongoing medical attention before they are ready for adoption.
The estimated cost of care for the initial intake of 27 cats and kittens is over $30,000 and costs climbed when we took in an additional 9 cats from the same home bringing the total cost of care to over $40,000.
At the same time, our shelter is currently caring for 110 cats and kittens in total. Many require medical treatment, specialized nutrition, surgery, and ongoing care as they wait for loving homes.
Matching Donors and a Celebrity Supporter
We are deeply grateful to Shari and Peter Touchbourne for their generous matching gift of $7,500 to our appeal, along with every donor who contributed to the care of these animals.
We are also very thankful to Milton resident and internationally recognized musician Deadmau5 for his generous donation of $30,000, which is helping provide the essential care for the sudden arrival of the 27 cats and kittens.
We were honoured to welcome him to the shelter this week, where he toured the facility and met the cats and kittens his gift is helping support.
As part of his involvement, Deadmau5 also hosted a naming contest, inviting fans through his Patreon community to vote on names for the cats.
