HOW DID BRINDLE GET HERE?
Brindle came into our care through another organization, and since arriving, this sweet girl has been showing us more and more of her wonderful personality. While she can initially be a little shy and stand-offish, especially when meeting someone new, she warms up quickly when given calm, confident handling and the opportunity to engage at her own pace. Once she gets comfortable, Brindle is a wonderfully wiggly, affectionate girl who loves being with her people and is eager to make them happy!

PERSONALITY:
- A sweet and affectionate girl who can initially be shy with new people
- Warms up quickly once she feels comfortable and learns that she can trust her handler
- Very food motivated and happy to work for a variety of treats
- Also motivated by praise, affection, and spending time with her people
- Becomes very handler-focused once she gets into "training mode"
- Knows her sit cue and responds well to both verbal and hand signals
- Knows her name and will give eye contact when called
- Fairly easy to handle on leash, with some pulling that continues to improve with consistent training
- Can be jumpy and become overstimulated when excited, including getting the zoomies, but responds well to redirection
- May be unsure or sensitive about harnessing and physical handling, so she needs slow, low-pressure introductions and careful attention to her body language
- Enjoys affection, but handling such as collar grabs, teeth checks, and ear checks should be introduced gradually and positively
- Would benefit from continued confidence-building around new people, new environments, and distractions
- Has shown excellent engagement and obedience with handlers once she has had time to become comfortable
- Has lived with a dog before
- Has not shown significant fixation or reactivity toward people or dogs in the shelter, although she will need continued training and appropriate management as she adjusts to a home environment
- Prefers to eliminate outside but may occasionally have an accident in her kennel, so her housetraining should be supported as she settles into her new home

WHAT TYPE OF HOME IS BRINDLE LOOKING FOR?
- A home with general dog experience and people who understand the importance of consistency and clear boundaries
- A securely fenced yard is recommended, giving Brindle an opportunity to sniff, explore, and burn off some energy without every outing needing to be a full walk
- Brindle may potentially do well in an apartment or condo setting as long as her training and exercise needs are consistently met
- Children 12+ may be considered. Everyone in the family should understand and respect her need for calm, positive interactions and appropriate boundaries
- If living with another dog, Brindle may do well with a dog of similar temperament and size.
- Brindle cannot live with cats at this time, as her impulse control and tendency to become overstimulated could create conflict with a resident cat
- A family willing to give Brindle time to build confidence with new people, environments, handling, and distractions
- A home that will continue her training, particularly around confidence, impulse control, engagement, and loose-leash walking
- A family committed to using positive, low-pressure handling techniques and respecting Brindle's body language
