HOW DID SUGAR & SPICE GET HERE?
A little Sugar, a little Spice, and twice the love! Sugar & Spice came into our care through another organization and are now looking for their next chapter together. These bonded little ladies may be small, but they have big hearts and big personalities! They will need a patient, understanding family who can give them the time and space they need to decompress, build trust, and feel safe in their new surroundings.

PERSONALITY:
- A sweet and affectionate bonded pair who love their people!
- Both enjoy attention and being close to their favourite humans
- Once comfortable, they can form incredibly strong bonds with their people
- Very food motivated and happy to work for treats
- Interested in toys, but their people are their favourite motivator
- Spice especially enjoys climbing into a lap for some quality cuddle time!
- Both have a special fondness for their crates, which can provide a comforting safe space when they feel overwhelmed
- Small in size, but not short on personality!
- Both are still building their confidence and will need time to decompress in their new home
- Can be nervous around new people, particularly men
- May growl or become vocal when worried or uncomfortable
- Can become overstimulated and need space and support to settle
- They are working on polite greetings, confidence around new people, and handling
- Both girls are also still working on their house training, so their new family should be prepared to start this process from the beginning
- With patience, consistency, and plenty of encouragement, these two sweet girls have the potential to blossom alongside their people!

WHAT TYPE OF HOME?
- Sugar & Spice must be adopted together as a bonded pair
- A home with no other pets
- A home with general dog experience as well as behaviour-specific experience with fear-based reactivity and vocal dogs
- Children should be 14+
- A home without shared walls is recommended, as both girls can be quite vocal
- Their family should be comfortable giving them space from triggers and proactively helping them avoid becoming overwhelmed
- A calm, patient home where they can decompress and build a relationship with their new people at their own pace
- Adopters who understand the management involved in having two somewhat vocal and easily triggered dogs in the home

Spice is currently taking a medication called gabapentin to help with shelter stress and though she may not need this medication long term once settled into a home, a starter supply will be sold to her adopter to help support her transition into her forever home.

Sugar & Spice are both eating Royal Canin wet food and their adoption fee is reduced to help cover the cost of a case of their food at the time of adoption. The adoption fee to adopt both girls together is $500.
