HOW DID HOWIE GET HERE?
Howie was transferred to us from another organization and is now ready to find a stable, experienced forever home!

PERSONALITY:
- Very friendly, social, and people-oriented dog
- Extremely tolerant of handling and enjoys human interaction
- Goofy, affectionate personality with a big enthusiasm for life
- Highly food motivated
- Very toy motivated - enjoys stuffies, squeaky toys, and balls
- Working on his leash skills (he pulls and is working on this!)
- Can become excitable and jumpy but is generally well-meaning and tries hard
- Dog-reactive and can get frustrated around other dogs
- Mild resource guarding of food and toys (best managed with trading, not removal)
- May show displacement behaviours (zoomies/movement) when stressed rather than forward aggression
- Bonus, Howie is housetrained!

WHAT TYPE OF HOME IS HOWIE LOOKING FOR?
- Detached, single-family home (no condos or high-rises)
- Experienced, dog-savvy home comfortable with large, strong, reactive dogs
- Adult-only or experienced families with children 14+ who can safely manage his strength and excitement
- Single-dog household only (no other dogs)
- Cannot live with cats due to prey drive
- Fenced yard required for safe decompression and exercise
- Home able to provide structure, routine, and consistent boundaries
- A committed home willing to continue training and behaviour support

Howie is currently eating Purina HA as he has some senstivities, he may not need this long term but any dietary changes should be discussed with a veterinarian. Howie's adoption fee is reduced to help cover the cost of his food at the time of adoption.

Howie is a big, goofy, affectionate boy who is still learning how to manage his excitement and frustration in the world. With experienced handling, structure, and consistent training, he has strong potential to become a loyal and loving companion.
