Do you want to make a significant difference for animals in need? Leaving a gift in your will is one of the most effective ways to secure a brighter future for both pets and people.
When you leave a gift to the Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton, you’re ensuring that every wag, purr and new beginning continues long into the future.

Residual bequest – After making provisions for your loved ones and other obligations are met, you can leave a percentage of the remainder of your estate.
Specific bequest – You can designate a specific dollar amount.
Life insurance policies – You can designate the Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton as the owner and/or beneficiary of an insurance policy, in whole or in part.
Property – You can donate a house or personal property.
Registered investments – Donating all or part of your Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF) or Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) assets can be an effective way to help animals and save you at tax time.
In your will, you can designate either a percentage of or a specific dollar amount of your estate. We recommend consulting with independent legal and financial advisors to ensure your gift aligns with your financial goals, tax situation and personal circumstances.
Residual bequest sample wording:
“I give to the Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton, registered charity 11906 4350 RR0001, ____% of the residue of my estate in support of the animals.”
Specific bequest sample wording:
“I give to the Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton, registered charity 11906 4350 RR0001, the sum of ______________ dollars ($______) to be used in support of the animals.”
Updating an existing will
If you have an existing will, and would like to leave a gift to HSOMH, ask your lawyer to add a codicil (an addition that modifies a part of your will) to reflect your wish.
