Special Adoption Programs

Our Programs

Some animals need a little more time, patience, or understanding, but still have so much love to give. Our Special Adoption Programs support animals who are shy, chronically ill, or happiest in non-traditional homes. While their needs may be different, they’re just as deserving of care, comfort, and companionship.

And because we want to make these matches easier, many of these adoptions are offered at reduced or no cost.

Palliative Adoptions

Palliative adoptions are for animals with ongoing or terminal medical conditions who deserve comfort, companionship, and love for however long they have left.

We will work closely with you to make sure it’s the right fit and to support you throughout the journey. Palliative adoptions have a waived fee due to the increased care needs of the animal.

Shadow Cats

Shadow Cats are shy or under-socialized cats who may never be lap pets — and that’s okay. These cats are often happiest in calm, patient homes where they can take things at their own pace.

You’ll still be making a meaningful difference and might just gain the quietest, most loyal roommate you’ve ever had.

Barn Buddies

Some cats are more independent and do best with space to roam. Our Barn Buddies are working cats who thrive in outdoor settings like barns, stables, or workshops. They’re natural mousers and prefer minimal interaction but still rely on someone for food, shelter, and basic care.
